Wisdom and Judgement

As we move forward in 2021, we may not have conquered our greatest challenges, but we’re encouraged by what we see. 

Over the last few months, I’ve come to think that there will be long-term consequences if there’s a disconnect from not only our expectations of others, but also their expectations of us. I have always believed that what happens in the world affects what happens to us. It is where we started and where we will end. We believe in the power of the human connection.

Here’s a little push:

Act with courage. Every day, everywhere there is a need that you can support. There is no excuse for not taking responsibility when someone is falling behind in their commitments, where there is conflict, or where you can make a positive impact.

Be a bright light. A common frustration I have is that people lack ideas. Correction, there is a lack of sharing of people’s good ideas. Often the best ideas sound crazy. Wireless technology, ride sharing, battery powered vehicles. All bad ideas.

Open a wide door. Today the brightest minds from across the planet are working shoulder to shoulder to solve a worldwide pandemic. A global team working a global problem. Inclusion and diversity of thought, race, and religion. We know how much more we can achieve when we bring everyone to the table. The consequences are real. 

Lead well. I want people to raise their hands and see the opportunity in the challenge. But people are reluctant to risk failing. Make it safe. Take the journey with them. Provide clear direction. Set goals and objectives. Give specific and immediate feedback. Be decisive. Be honest. Reward effort. Be a team.

Don’t be afraid. Look around corners. It is foolish to drive looking in the rear view mirror. We are the future. What we do will determine our future. Ask what’s possible. Drive your own growth. Don’t accept no. Demonstrate your curiosity. Try and fail. Try again. Motivate and inspire people.

It's pretty amazing when a successful business happens. When you're working away with the right people at something that matters long enough, an incredible opportunity is created. Over time, we realized that the biggest goals require more than just action, they require experience to build something great. Well, that was how Breakpoint was started. And how it continues to be, today.
