Breakpoint was founded on the notion that we could help people and organizations succeed by bringing them expert, candid advice and an outside perspective on their business. So whether you’re a C-suite executive who needs to think differently or a potential client seeking a new business partner Breakpoint offers a fresh perspective that helps to navigate the curves ahead.

At Breakpoint we just don't talk about leadership, we are active leaders in emerging midmarket companies. We know from that experience that the single most important factor in building a high-performing organization is leadership. Having a formal strategy and game plan for sustainable performance is not enough. The key to success is a strong leader who understands that their most important role in times of change is to define what the organization will be and why it will matter.

With over 30 years in strategic leadership roles we have had the privilege of working with CEOs in many different capacities and from different perspectives. One thing is clear, when it comes to organizational change, failure continues to be more common than success. Why? leaders and their executive teams often devote their resources to planning the perfect change initiative but they themselves are not prepared to change. This can be especially true in founder led organizations. The success of the past can build behavioural patterns that are dysfunctional in today's fast moving economy. Without the requisite self awareness in times of change organization leaders can be handcuffed responding to present day challenges with behaviours shaped by their past experience. This is often at the root of an executive's struggle to lead successfully the adoption of a necessary organization change.

Lasting organization change can only occur when its leaders become self aware. It requires building an understanding of the "why" you behave that way and "what" needs to change. The pressures of change are natural. Leaders need to accept this and face the challenges of leading change with the humility to see the emerging patterns of behaviour in themselves and then have the courage to adopt the needed behaviours to influence change in the organization they are responsible for leading.

Competitive pressures are mounting. Organizations are facing the need to reduce transaction costs by developing economies of scale, striving to achieve market power both up and down stream, and being driven to develop capabilities that differentiate them from competitors in the areas of innovation, technology, and quality. Today, the better equipped a leader is to know how they will react during change, the better equipped they will be to lead real change in their organization.

At Breakpoint, it’s not just about making a great business with people. It’s about making a business great for people.
